@LibertaerUeberAlles I think the lack of trustworthiness on Hitler's part was exactly the problem. A non-aggression pact's a joke if it's turned on it's head within such a short time. Surely what matters is what politicians and leaders thought at that moment in time? It was what guided their actions, not our retrospect. Who else knew of Stalin's plans/ideas back then? I doubt many did.

@Hammerhead547 That Treachery Act ought to be used more often.

I've met enough WWII veterans who've hated what the republicans have done to healthcare. Eg the costs of the monopoly on their medication. Santorum's not what those vets fought for. They fought for each other - or as repubs would claim "Socialised Warfare".

@LibertaerUeberAlles Your opinion is probably correct. But you'd have to unravel a string of recent events in order to give it a decent platform from which to start. The breach of the non-aggression pact between the nazi's and soviets would've been held as an example of how much Hitler could be trusted. Rather than rely upon actual support, perhaps it would be more realistic to hope that appeasement and apathy would keep others from intervening on the soviet side?

@buakawkaoklai Grammar like that and you're calling the vets idiots?

@92Disturbed Correct. Churchill knew. Some of his advisors were anti-semetic and talked down the idea of bombing to breach the camp walls with the question "But where could they (the camp inmates) go?". Forgetting that breached camp walls offered at least a chance. Whereas to remain inside, offered no chance.
