  1. Zakaria is true to his beliefs when he advocates for a continuation of neoliberal economics. He's not an ally of the Democratic party when he does it, however. The Democratic party, which is rapidly returning to labor-centric policies, isn't going to jump in to new neoliberalism with both feet the way Zakaria wants. Also, wooing white voters with the damaging economic policies that forced so many off decent wages and into a hand-to-mouth and paycheck-to-paycheck cycle is a fool's errand. White voters, as a group, haven't backed the Democratic presidential candidate since LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. Democrats wisely listen to Stacey Abrams for strategy, not Grover Norquist era Republicans who had a falling out with the GOP and now [want] the Democrats to move right to accommodate him [them] and his [their] "Lincoln Project" political "rock and roll swindle" kind.
