It depends on what you compare us with - because we don't know of any other species or race to compare with that is equal then we think of ourselves superior. Sure, to primates in nature in some aspects but if we would compare ourselves to another intelligent life-form then it would become obvious pretty quickly that we are in fact morons, we are toddlers with iPhones.
