The Carroll payout basically worked out for him and they stopped talking about it. They stopped talking about confiscating his real estate for his appeals. He's only had to pay for breaking his gag order during this trial, never jail. In the 5+ states with indictments for the election conspirators he's not been indicated. The Mar a lago really seems to be in his favor. He's basically failing just enough to be held accountable. It's hard to have faith in the system when they can't get Trump behind bars in 4 years and in 3 historic cases in 2 years he's a walking free man
