  1. Why does race matter? Because every race holds different beliefs and practices and then in each race there is still more differences in culture. People who can't grasp that are the reason there's a problem, not the people who simply make note of it. You cannot expect to treat a Mexican person the same as a Puerto Rican, or Hawaiian the same as same as a white guy from Arkansas. No Asian speaks "ching-chong" yet anyone from the Philippines to Vietnam gets that stereotype, because ignorant people ignore anything race related and presume a one size fits all approach. The African American community has a higher prevalence of issues regarding diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure than every other race--be it from cultural practices or genetic disposition. Eating healthy is important teaching especially for many black people, especially since they are usually the most effected by food deserts. So, yes race matters.
