Dear Euronews : The story is incorrect: OpenAI was co - founded by Ilya Sutskever, Elon Musk, Greg Brockman, Sam Altman, Trevor Blackwell, Vicki Cheung, etc, in 2015 and most of the funding came from Elon Musk, among others. Musk and others insisted to be Open Source and Non - Profit , but after a while Altman and others went closed - source and for - profit and Musk and others left disappointed. To now call Altman the creator is totally incorrect and insulting. The honest thing is a correction, in my opinion. Musk is starting a new AI Company called X AI .
