  2. Everyone should be able to hold any religious beliefs they want. This is America. However, when those beliefs (whatever they may be) are foisted on others by state institutions, democracy dies. This is America!

  3. Our history books are replete with examples of the outlandish superstitions and fantastical beliefs of uneducated, innocently-ignorant people. The resurgence of magical thinking in sectors of our 21st Century world , particularly when that naiveté is exploited by powerful people, should make us all feel very queasy.
