Ryan Bales Yea man, I see where you’re coming from. My father who is Puerto Rican and was also an immigrant, left me when I was 5, so I grew up with my white mother. I don’t know how to speak any Spanish, but, I’m a giant history buff and I know more things about certain cultures than even the natives don’t know...which I think is pretty cool XD
I don’t feel like I belong anywhere, honestly, I just grew up very poor, with not much family, and I don’t even talk to my other side of my family because I’ve never met my father since. I think “belonging” somewhere is an illusion, rather it’s your individuality, morals, and ambitions that define you. But yea, I never understood why you must feel “pride” for your own race/ethnicity, when I think everyone, equally, brings something unique to the world...so I’d rather embrace everyone :)

Izadora Dau I think, for the most part, anywhere besides the “tourist” destinations in any country, you’re easily going to be identified for being a foreigner, and this includes literally anyone. An expat possibly gets racist remarks and are harassed by the majority; to them, you’re literally an alien. No matter what you do, you’ll be an American because you’ve already assimilated and psychologically, based on whatever state you’re in, you represent it based on your mannerisms and the way you dress. If you’re in a constant mentality of perpetual longing/struggle to be someone you’re not, it’ll only corrupt your philosophy and individuality. Then who are you? You’re not anyone, you’re in limbo, confused and lost.
I’m an American myself, I live in the US. Do I enjoy being born here? Not really. But I accept it because there’s nothing I can do, and it’s better than being born in a war-torn country. I honestly don’t like this world, or even sometimes, I’m nihilistic because I get severely depressed. Maybe I truly don’t belong anywhere, is what I’m implying. My point is, that you should try and accept yourself based on your own journey of how you got to this country. It’s fine to be insecure and feel like you don’t belong, everyone is human, but that’s why we can adapt and evolve, overcome yourself and help others who are lost, no matter where you’re born. I believe education and educating those who are ignorant is better than feeling miserable about yourself, at least it helped me with my own insecurities.

Kenny Are you sure about that? You should know, the government is infamous for its crimes against humanity and it’s propaganda...so black history month doesn’t do much, only covering the basics of a complex history.
Can you quote me on that? It is true, that through generations, Africans lose their “identity”, which is clearly apparent in today’s society. This also counts for the indigenous/aboriginals in any country where they were colonized.
And yes, most African countries are extremely corrupted due to Europeans and the CIA interferences. Same goes for Latin America, South East Asia, and the Middle East.
My dude, I’m not insulting your race...I’m talking complete facts. The reality of imperialism and racism has caused minority groups to suffer through their DNA. It’s a continuous cycle of violence and self-destruction, especially because our government continues to do nothing for the inner-city violence with gangs, who are relatively African American.
Nonetheless, the world is “dysfunctional”, and has been throughout time and its respective empires.
