I agree. As an American, I feel disgusted by my country.

Emma Yep, and I also think it depends all on the context. If we had free healthcare, anyone in need would be able to see a therapist/psychologist for help...but no, we don’t have that. Instead, we’re given medication with insincerity, no programs to help in a positive, reassuring sense to give us meaning in life, so therefore we’re left to suffer in all medical aspects. The prison system is unfair/unjust to those who grew up in an environment that just brings despair, so then those in power can suck those individuals dry of their humanity, which in then helps those in power make indefinite profits by using government loopholes. Everything is meant to profit off of humans who are merely lost. We’re left with extremely limited options and very little hope in a country that can’t progress because of its immense corruption. It’s very sad and infuriating.

Bella Wu Let’s go backwards for a second. If we had free healthcare and a prison system that catered to evolving, we wouldn’t be in this position in the first place. This country produces violence for profit...that’s it.

The US relies more on violence than rehabilitation. Until the corruption is stopped, the prison system will never change.

The corruption and unprofessionalism in this country is very similar to a third would country. It’s completely broken, and I think biggest reason why we haven’t evolved is because of our ego. Fortunately, our empire will inevitably weaken and crumble. As a historian, I can assure you we will someday be humbled by our “mistakes”...and that time is coming, either within this decade or the next.

Democracy.

That’s a very conservative mindset. I’m sure anything is possible if you had the right resources and environment.

Grim Queen It’s only in the US where the prison system favors more violence than rehabilitation. Nothing will be solved unless capitalism is stopped from the inside with all the major corruption.

Grim Queen Look at Europe, more specifically Scandinavia and their prison system. Our money is wasted, just like with most things in this country, it’s used for corruption.

Anyone could get a gun, it’s America.

The Buzz Inc I agree, but humans are unpredictable. Also, “banning” a drug will doesn’t mean it will disappear forever. Anything is possible.

@thebuzzinc2757 I'm sure there are alternatives that are pretty much the same thing. That's why synthetics have taken over.

Alexia Mua It all depends on the context and the background of the individual.

That’s it works in some states in the US...mostly in the south.

It’s pure capitalism and corruption. Don’t forget, the US is still a baby, it hasn’t evolved as it should, especially because of the Civil War. We’re an empire that will inevitably lose its power, and that time is coming very soon.

No. Look it up. The jury decides in Texas. It varies from state.
1
The corruption is what leads to all these issues.

It’s a barbaric form of discipline. And it only makes sense because the US is very similar to a third word country on how it operates.

Sadly, that’s not the only problem in the US. Most of those states that allow the death penalty are southern states. Southern states are still stuck in the past: I think it’s because of the poor aftermath of the Confederates being defeated, and the hardcore religious views of these states. There’s also the fact that drug companies depend on the death penalty, since now they use lethal injections.
