In Thailand family takes care of family with no old folks homes for the locals unless they are rich. Your parents raised and took care of you, isn't reasonable to help out in return when needed? Yes it an unwanted burden but its just the way of life. They have nursing homes for expats which are 10 times better than America and cheaper. Countries know expats usually have more money so it is in their best interest to properly take care of you for as long as possible. Some people may say this is a bad thing but compared to options back home is it? Places like Thailand can provide top quality health care for less money. You have people who visit Thailand just for the medical cost aspect vacationing and healing before going back home saving a ton of money compared to America even without insurance coverage. Do your own research to see what options are available to you with Hospital listing the cost of procedures in their country with some having a medical visa option available to foreigners.

@imneverwrongsometimestruthlies I took care of my mom until she passed away with cancer. I was there for both my father and mother until the end. Medical cost is just so expensive in the west these days. I am thankful my parents raised me right so you can call me old fashioned. I was a lucky child having both parents who loved and took care of me. I move to Thailand 10 years ago which was a perfect fit for me. Having ongoing health problems I always try to live today that would make yesterday jealous cause tomorrow is never guaranteed. Life isn't always easy but try make the best of each day you have. 🙂
