Its nothing wrong with helping out others if you learn when to say no. Thailand has Nursing and Retirement homes catered to the rich and foreigners who have the money. In most non-western countries families take care of one another. Thailand has many wonderful traditions lost back home. I am perfectly happy with my wife in the Land of Smiles.

Also the humidity can create mold in places. I solved that problem buying a pressure washer.

No matter where a person happiness is their responsibility to create.

You living there 15 years too long with having the option to leave everyday. Where you decide to live will determine your happiness in Thailand.

A single person living on a $1,000 a month is possible in Thailand if you don't expect a lavish lifestyle. Less than that you don't any extra money for the unexpected. Living with my wife with owning everything we spend roughly $1,500 a month sometimes even less. I save more than I spend having a nice bank account. Who I am to judge another person happiness? Enjoy your life with no regrets.

Its foolish to move to a developing country expecting everything to have a 5 star rating experience. Do your research always keeping expectations realistic and within your budget. If you're unhappy in the Land of Smiles you always have the option to leave. Having the right mindset you can enjoy more life for less money creating the life you deserve in Thailand.

@davidpaxton6402 There isn't any double taxation in Thailand. There are many variables that decides if you pay taxes. I personally don't have to pay taxes in the Land of Smiles.
