  1. A simple comfortable life in Thailand can start at $1000 a month. Make sure you have some savings for rainy days. I know some people who live on less money but I don't recommend it since it is a very frugal lifestyle in my opinion. A small but nice studio condo starts around $150 a month. 3 dozen of eggs cost $2.68 in Taphan Hin, Thailand currently. One person can eat out at local Thai restaurants/street food for ten dollars a day. Electricity running a AC 24/7 will cost you $150-$200 monthly or more depending on how many units you are running. AC are individual units for each room. Electricity can be cheaper with running a fan in the daytime, visiting stores and restaurants with AC, extra showers, and a dip in the pool or ocean. Water is cheap about $12 monthly not including bottle water. Do not drink from the tap it will make you very sick. WiFi is about $20 and a phone plan $10 monthly. You can build a house with 2 bedrooms starting at $15,000 and up without cutting corners. This guy probably had to buy land in his wife name and wanted more amenities. Make sure you can trust your wife. My wife already owned her house before marriage so I live rent free. Mango and sticky rice is awesome. Your life style choices will determine how much you spend. The more money you have the more lavish the lifestyle you can live. I recommend at least $1,500 monthly overseas or more living a wonderful life. Prices will very between Thailand and the Philippines but the monthly budget will average the same. Cost will vary depending on if you live in a big or smaller city including rural areas like a village setting being the cheapest saving even more money. The more touristy the area the higher cost of living. High and low tourist season will affect the cost in an area. Many other overseas countries just as cheap. Make sure to do your research using reasonable expectations within your budget. Just don't back your bags hoping for the best, the world doesn't work that way. Learn the language, respect the people and their culture and you will have a happy life for less money. Be smart staying safe being responsible for your own happiness. 🙂
