@hana-zx8gt Security costs a lot of money. Money public schools don’t have. Public schools are funded entirely from taxation. Thus the taxpayers need to pay but also vote for legislation to increase taxation to make this improved security a reality.

@kentaylor2416 There is no political will to make that happen. Besides, manufacturing or modding weapons is only a 3D printer away. It’s about as complicated a machine as a door lock. explosives are also trivial to manufacture. Anyone can hijack a gasoline tanker and drive it into an elementary school. The reality is that mental illness needs to be addressed because nerfing the world is just impossible.

@joshpzueck6320 My only minor point not addressing your kobayashi maru directly is that these neat Venn diagrams of civilian vs criminal you have don’t represent the reality of the enormous gray area of those who own illegal unregistered guns that actually have no criminal record and have their guns for home protection but simultaneously do not government oversight of them. Again, as was said. When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. This obviously isn’t represented in the official statistics or your representation in the classes of people involved. Feel free not to care about this aside but it does represents a substantial quantity of prople and firearms combined.
