@latrinemarine826 Who cares about a "broken home" when you're married to a broken person literally forever and can't marry another. Divorce is absolutely progress.

@latrinemarine826 There is a profound difference between "the easy way out" and not trying and there being "no way out" and never being able to marry again.

@d3eb226 With a name like Ukraineecrimes, what do you expect being on Putin's payroll?

@latrinemarine826 You and your spouse get married in your 20's. You both have no kids. A couple years later your spouse goes criminally insane, picks up a meth habit is in and out of jail and mental institutions and is a danger to their self and others. You can't divorce them and can never marry again for the rest of your life.

@latrinemarine826 No, that’s what you’re focusing on. People cause broken homes. Every home has a door anyone can walk out of at any time and not return. As you have admitted there are circumstances where that is warranted. Never being able to remarry again is the problem.

@tylernaksown7418 Certainly. Thai Gays and lesbians have been unable to legally adopt, access IVF or surrogacy because that was limited to married couples. Trans girls and boys are unable to follow the dress codes of their gender identity in the vast majority of Thai schools and institutions. This is not trivial as this forced hair cutting is a form of humiliation and has led to a number of trans girls dropping out of school. Employment discrimination clearly exists, Thai employment discretion law is very weak and it is evident in that LGBT people are not well represented in senior positions in the majorty of companies (and government institutions) they are not the owners of. Some bars, hotels and nightclubs openly discriminate against trans women because they assume they are sexworkers and this practice is allowed to continue which is illegal in many other countries. There is a minority of Thai society who simply does not like LGBT people and when and where they have power or influence they can and will tip the scales of justice against them. My wife is a Thai trans woman. I’m not suggesting with this itemized list of faults that Thailand is a terrible place for LGBT people. It is not. It is clearly the best in the region. It’s also not perfect and this law is the start for needed reforms to achieve legal and social parity and not the end.

@latrinemarine826 You are confused. Legal separation allows you to live separately from your spouse, but the marriage bond is not severed, meaning neither party can remarry.

That's an overly rosy view of LGBT life in Thailand for the previous decades, tbh.
2
@tylernaksown7418 Sure thing. There is a UN LGBT report on Thailand called “Tolerance but Not Inclusion” if you want references. Cheers!

@yrdbc4452 My Thai transgender wife is from Issan and being able to get married is far from useless. We have been waiting 20 years for it to happen. Improving the Thai economy has nothing AT ALL to do with passing marriage equality which has been in the works for 20 years.

@tylernaksown7418 I cannot link it here but search for “tolerance but not inclusion lgbt Thailand” and you’ll find a comprehensive report on this from the UN in both English and Thai as a PDF.

@SymetricRaven I loving Thai trans women is wrong, I don't want to be right.

@latrinemarine826 It is clear that you don’t fully understand the realities of legal separation vs divorce in the Philippines. Actually look at what each are and the actual requirements for each beyond your assumptions for what you assume they are and how they work.
1
@latrinemarine826 Rest assured, we can all tell you’re from the US. The rest is equivocation and Motte and Bailey fallacy.

@alanaban1840 God doesn’t exist.

@alanaban1840 Millions of years of evolution. Life is inevitable organic chemistry. Nature is your weakest argument.
1
@alanaban1840 It's just organic chemistry, natural selection and time. Upgrade your cosmology from the stone age.
1
@alanaban1840 Life is just self perpetuating and replicating organic chemistry. It doesn't require anything supernatural.
1
@alanaban1840 Big bang, obviously. Hubble expansion proves this.
1
@alanaban1840 Undoubtedly something caused the Big Bang. To pretend it was God is silly. It is unknowable.
1
@alanaban1840 It is not knowable with our current level of technological understanding. Lots of possibilities. The whole concept of before is called into question. As Stephen Hawking has famously pointed out, asking what caused the big bang is like asking "What is north of the North Pole?”
