@LipColt That's exactly it. On most AR receivers the stock is a separate part attached to it. On the KP-15 it's one part.

@sparks2022 Isn't it that not having a forward assist will get you killed in the streets? That's what I usually hear in the comments :P

I'm pretty sure Ian has heard about that one...

That Liberator pistol reproduction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgOfbG3mi_0

It is not a WWSD upper, it's explained in the video. Just an upper that was available at the time.

I don't think this would be a cursed gun. It's a pretty sensible design.
2
What advantage does it have? Ian has all the ambidextrous controls he needs and a brass deflector.
2
How would that help? The brass deflector is enough to keep brass out of a left-handed shooter's face.
2
You're hunting with it or have it ready for self-defense. As Ian said, he doesn't care about terminal ballistics at all. He has other rifles for that.
2
This is compact when in use. You do need a stock when shooting the rifle. A folding or collapsing stock only has a benefit for storage or transport. Since Ian doesn't care about that, he's satisfied.
2
Eh? There isn't really any "break up". Ian just doesn't have time to participate anymore.
2
How dare he have different preferences!
2
A short OAL when shooting, a folding stock has no effect on that. And I wouldn't say Ian hates bullpups - he loves his FAMAS.
2
It's needed because of the straight stock of the AR. If you want a decent cheek-weld with it, you end up with such height. Rifles with lower optics tend to have stocks drop below the level of the bore. That has other disadvantages, mostly recoil control.
1
I could see it with some of the previous designs though.

The regular WWSD 2020 is getting a mud any day now.
1
@JerryCrow "i would go for a custom made sharpshooter stock with adjustable shit to get the config just right, you see where i am going?" Yes, I see you're going for a much heavier option ;) Something that Ian specifically wants to avoid.
1
@JerryCrow Apparently you only see competition = top-level professional competition where the best scores are the only metric and everything else is secondary to that. That's not Ian.
1
@crimsonproductions That's an EXTREMELY broad definition of a purpose. Does the Barrett M107 have the same purpose as the MP5? They're both "fighting weapons" after all.
1
@crimsonproductions I was just using your purpose definition. It's not my fault it was utter nonsense ;)

spendy how?
