I haven't been to Sheffield either. I knew a fair bit about its history. And the development of steel. Nice to put a location to the history. Fantastic getting the tour of the Cutler building. Yes Sheffield still make steel goods. But to what scale. A lot of the current items look like high end tools. And small batch items. The days of turning out tons. And employing thousands. Long gone. As a Carpenter for my working life. I have accumulated tools. I had a lot more old, hand made stuff. But that got stolen. I still have planes from Sheffield. One with the MOD arrow on it, dated during the second war. I also have a very old Swan neck firmer chisel. Stamped R. Sorsby. The first guy on the board. I did have more, before the theft. Don't know if they were genuine. But they were passed down to me by my neighbour, years ago. They had a line of Carpenters in the family. But the son didn't follow on. Be nice if it was correct. Good bit of history. I hope whoever took the rest. Didn't just dump the old stuff.
