Why pacify - most people in Donbass fight for Russia - they do not want to deal with anything remotely related to Kiev.

@jeffreycarman2185 But why would west help Chechnya? Chechnya is internationally recognized terrain of Russia... so you implying "help" to these people means that you are OK with helping separatists. Right now, Russia is actively helping Donbass - so its a good thing, correct? Also I doubt that people in Chechnya would "Vote in" the government they had in 1990s - if you actually talk to anyone from that area and suggest helping Chechens you may get a knife between your ribs - these people do not care - they take you out even in US. I.e. there was little sympathy for "ISIS like" people. And current leadership in that part of Russia is not exactly soft - yet far more "liberal". You get the picture, I hope? Also why is US helping Taiwan - they see it as officially part of China - so why???

@uniformmike05 LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, whatever you believe. Yet 1000s and 1000s have died fighting for Russia to liberate their lands... strange no. If you are so sure, why no referendum by UN? Your view is same as that of Germany in WWII - none of the regions ever wanted to not be part of Germany - it was the allies that created anti German sentiment ;)

Yeah these were Nazi remnants. Die hard Nazi. One of few things Stalin did well is to smash these. They had blood of over million Poles on their hands. Evil bastards.

What Guerilla ? What insurgents? What about Russian insurgents under Kiev regime rule? These were deep recon groups and NO Putin did not move out because of some deep recon groups and special force attacks - he moved out as it was expensive to keep 1000s of troops supplied when bridges were under constant attack.

OUNB believed in racial superiority and primacy of Ukrainian race. They were more Nazi than Germans themselves! I.e. they decided to create their own ideology, more Nazi than both German and Soviet one. One of the few things Stalin did good was to eliminate OUNB and later its leader - Bandera - whom was hiding in Germany - did world a big favor.

It is happening in Ukraine as well - especially in Donbass where locals are giving accurate info about movement of occupier's forces so Russian artillery can smash them. Also this gives a good pretext for Kiev leadership to remove politically sensitive people - anyone whom does not agree with the regime is branded as Russian spy and taken care off. Heck, they are even doing this in Poland today!

Sure, Russians have been using that tactics for a year now in Ukraine - did not stop Ukies from waging war.
