  3.  @krashd  Just b/c it holds an old record does not mean anything. At all. So 30 years ago it got a record - no wars since then that had even anything close to Desert Storm. B/c of that record it is supposed to be good? Vs. T-55? When every # associated with it sucks? Really?

  10.  @davidaward82  Who cares about combat record - neither been in any real combat. Whom did these tanks ever faced? Nobody - the best troops they had to deal with were some remnants of ISIS. That is it. So without combat record we look at the tale of the tape and here Challenger is a POS. M1 has its issues but its not a POS.

  11.  @davidaward82  No. I have the facts. Name a war where Challenger 2 faced even close to equal opposition. Come on. Where. The last time UK deployed in such manner was WWII. In Korean war the NK was not much of a challenge as they quickly lost their few tanks & tankers had almost no experience. In Falklands there was only a light tank deployed & Argentine force was not exactly "elite". There was some use in Iraq but nothing to really write about - Iraqis shown that even after extensive US training they cannot use a tank. So where? Where are the wars? Afghanistan? Really? The most I can see to highest challenge for UK tanker would be Korean war - but there was no Challenger tank deployed - not even 1. One can argue Falklands are afterwards - but only few light tanks were deployed & ground combat was very limited. Suez crisis and similar minor engagements, I hope, don't count as "tank test" of any kind. So where???

  12.  @davidaward82  What defense of Kuwait - maybe liberation of Kuwait? What heavy opposition - whom did they face? The best tank of NATO - Leopard 2 does not irradiate the crew - and radiation in M1 - that got its extra armor due initial versions being widely less armored than T-72A - does it only when penetrated.

  13.  @MostlyPennyCat  I.e. it never was battle tested vs. any peer. T-72s also bounced a lot of RPGs - so what? Iraqis proven that they cannot use any tank - after they lost 60 M1A1s vs. ISIS in pickups in just 3 days. Challenger is junk. Any upgrade to such junk means melting it - that is an upgrade of steel as its use may have more meaning than in that tank like object. I take upgraded T-72 over Challenger any day. It is far and wide better tank in every respect. I strongly advice UK to scrap all Challenger tanks and buy real stuff from Germany.

  14.  @grahammoore8967  Umm, I said there were none during Korean war... I know a lot about tanks. I even know their armor configuration from memory. Challenger 2 is the worst tank of NATO - and if not for things such as Arjun it would be the worst tank of its production run years in the world. Absolute junk. Battle proven junk as per Ukraine.

  15.  @grahammoore8967  Please watch some videos about Arjun and Challenger 2. Challenger 2 when inspected is junk - detailed inspection. Combat in Ukraine has shown Challenger 2 to be junk tank - its terrible. Poor off road performance, abysmal performance of its main gun and weak armor package. Hesh round is junk as well - it is historical round that is not capable of any penetration from front of a modern tank + its inefficient as HE anti infantry round. Challenger 2 is such a junk that its turret could not be tossed - it disintegrated (!!!) Again, performance in Ukraine of Challenger 2 is proof tank is junk. T-72BM3 is vastly superior tank in every respect - EVERY. It has far better mobility, far better armor package and far better ammo.

  19. HESH is not designed to ... penetrate armor. It is designed against old tanks, such as T-55 and T-62. It is obsolete vs. more modern tanks, such as T-72, except original one.
