  1. Zeihan’s view is that the US doesn’t engage with enemy combat units directly. US fighting doctrine is to go after the enemy’s logistics and command-and-control and only mop up the enemy combat units afterwards. Since China’s critical logistical lines stretch halfway around the globe, farther than basically anyone else’s, and since China doesn’t have the combination of a peer navy, a globe-spanning network of military bases, and a globe-spanning network of reliable powerful allies, China has zero chance. Even if the Chinese could defeat the Taiwanese quickly, which is doubtful, it is child’s play for the US to cut China’s critical logistical lines which would completely crush China. Economic collapse in mere weeks, mass starvation in just months. The difficulty will be finding a way to end it. There might not be anyone in China with enough authority and enough love for the Chinese people to surrender unconditionally and make it stick.
