  1. ⁠ @ApplesOranges123 Then we are stupid. Aid to Ukraine protects US troops for pennies on the dollar. If anything, that probably understates the case. The world is now eager to pay full price for the US weapons that we are planning to phase out over the coming years. Sending HIMARS, Bradleys, F16s, etc. to Ukraine is likely going to pay for itself many times over in the coming years. And then there’s the likelihood that the only reason that Putin hasn’t escalated to the use of nuclear weapons is the fact that a huge fraction of ethnic Russian family trees have Ukrainians in them. He won’t have the same inhibition against using nukes in a fight with a NATO country. The “we don’t think it’s money well spent” position is astoundingly shortsighted.
