Because having zero seats is better than having a few seats?

@markeldik7057 No. They don't have "just as much leverage" as Manchin and the most conservative Dems. There are zero extra out of party votes to the left of progressives. It is absolutely impossible, to pass a bill without Manchin. As Manchin has shown, there is the entire Republican party, to the right of him, where he can try and draw extra out of party votes from, by moving a bill right. Manchin has a more leverage.

There are about 50 other options, and the most popular hasn't won a single seat in its near 50 year existence. Third party is a fantasy. Even if you magically made a third party popular enough to win as many seats as the current progressive caucus, what you'd have is a Trump presidency due to vote splitting between Biden and the progessive candidate. You'd have one senator, and Pence being the tie breaker. And, you'd have a Republican plurality in the house. Republicans would only need to work with a few of the conservative Dems to pass whatever they wanted, and could completely ignore progressives. A third party would be completely useless, unless you can divide Republicans, as well.

@jstout333 They would non magically not get reelected. Even the most popular third party hasn't won a single seat in its near 50 year existence. No third party candidate has won a seat in 80 years. Why would they need their votes, any more than they do now? They'd do the same thing, and work with Republicans to pass watered down crap.

@jstout333 Voting blue works both ways. Those who vote against progressives in the primaries tend to vote for them in the general. She would immediately lose any votes that are voting for her because she's blue. Third party isn't the same as an independent who caucuses with Dems, and is allowed to have a voice and vote within the party. On top of immediately losing blue voters, whoever is campaigning against her could run on how she'd have zero influence as a third party candidate.

@jstout333 80 years includes all the post internet years, btw, dumb dumb. Third parties still aren't winning any seats.

@dvdv8197 Rofl. It's called reality, dumb dumb. You think any party mildly progressive is going to win over idiots who think progressives are commies, care more about stopping abortion than their own best interests, or whatnot?

@chioma3100 And? How does anything you said refute what I said?

@chioma3100 Learn what "gaslighting" actually means, dimwit. No, it's idiots, like Dore, who promote letting Trump win, fantasizing that it will cause a massive progressive backlash, that never materializes, that achieve the same thing. The progressive movement behind Bernie came after Obama.
