europe faces very similar thing as US... cities are blue, but also hold most of political power so it is critical... immigrants 95% live in those biggest cities so while they dont come to mess up quiet coutryside life, they will have big effect implicit.

how on earth they can afford in london when regular even working "natives" move out due to rising rents... it smells shady.

does that have effect in pillars of modern society, ie science, cultural values, high education, jobs needed to keep things functioning? I was surprised nuclear power plants had so many issues winter 2022/23 in france.

do you happen to know spanish history.... very interesting coz spain as country/nation/geographical place is easy to track some 2000 years back to today as borders havent changed that much.... and problems are similar as when crusaders drove off jihadists around 1200s or so. I rarely get any news of spain, well this topic is so taboo now in europe, im not surprised. and cant fix that with money, spain has received billions and billions of euros, no change. drug trade and other illegal things dont care of laws or subsidies anyway. in 1800s napoleon never really took hold of spain, it was napoleon's "afghanistan" in a way.... locals always fought back.

@zombie92110 all of those countries now suffer very stagnant problematic economy due to these rapid immigration policies.... it drains a lot of resources in mass scale, putting heavy taxes and toll socially. I get that original premise but then politicians always seem to go overboard when things are going wrong, they try to double down. At least france has done policies to try to curb social issues, while in germany it was taboo subject for long in public discussion. I get why, power play in EU is that germany had way too much leverage and wasnt shy of using it to their favor when everyone else suffered.

@zombie92110 possibly repeated dozen times and US context too, that pre WW1 worked coz belgians, poles and others from europe were very likely christians and with similar european mindset and values. Joke is this same could've been done in EU era by favoring poles, belgians , estonians and so on :D

Margaret Wade if i remember name correctly, guest of triggernometry and other podcasts, said clearly africa's problem is soviet communist history, habits and legislation/bureaucracy. No matter of population growth will help and france cant take them all; this is is in many former french colony countries as heritage. It would tremendously help africa if this could be untangled somehow, as people immigrating often just bring their attitudes and leanings to new country, not fix them. (though old african, some local tradition of pooling money and thus avoiding interest loan trap is smart.... some immigrants were using that in paris).

@zombie92110 this was my understanding too, france can be child friendly country but urban environment is tough costwise.

it has had 1.5 birth rate for long and nobody seems to know why it is lot higher than average european country.

@asdasdasddgdgdfgdg so south africa risk is there( their problem is too many "immigrants" and very socialist ruthless politics + nowadays power cuts and other 3rd world country problems).. and only solution for long seems to be for politicans to blame whites who have escaped country constantly and thus are super marginal group now. So while russia problem of not having skilled labor is one issue, huge corruption and nepotism totally overrides and forces people to move out if they had aptitude for certain jobs. At least for UK this has been stated, I dont 100% take this skilllevel reason as it is more complex dynamic in capitalistic system. But corruption is final nail draining resources and people move out who have any ambitions in life. I can see direct link with nepotistic /family oriented culture to corruption... or just culture strongly favoring your country/culture people over any others. This is not 100% that every immigrant is like that, but certainly more people allow easier way to stick that way and use "social democratic power" to demand more allowances for those people. This can then be seen african (or other origin) looking people who have ambitions move to other neighborhoods like in US, while those suburbs rot and decay like in sweden. Having good education and build good career is immense sacrifice so having "thanks " as huge tax burden may mean people go abroad to live even modest middle class life there.

@IsseKonja france is broke? everyone talks of germany now. sure they have flavors of italian and greek "culture" of putting people in jobs that are not needed, thus more bureacracy and things work less well with more people. they have major military upgrades needed which absorbs hundreds of billions euros.

is france lacking housing like all european countries... even poland nowadays if you gotta live in city. (by lacking i mean rents, prices are so high it is practically not available for you and too much immigration of course twists these supply, demand balances)

@zombie92110 this pre-WW1 france is greatest example of why immigration is not needed(and post WW2 it again rose, but maybe not for best reasons). societies have these natural cycles.
