  1. Although the GDP of India is much higher than in Luxembourg, population size has to be taken into account. A million dollars shared between a thousand people is much less than a million dollars shared between two people.

I think something that the BBC don't understand is that if you double a population through the increase of the the birth rate or mass immigration then GDP goes up however it is quite possible that everyone in the country gets poorer on average. India has a higher GDP than Luxembourg but everyone is way poorer.
