Some people think that Boris Johnson went overboard when locking down and some people think that he didn't lock down in enough. A bit like the Brexit debate it's split pretty evenly.

The data isn't quite clear on this but approximately 60% of British people are criticising Boris Johnson for locking down or locking down too much and about 40% are criticising him for not locking down or not locking down enough. The media tend to be with the authoritarian approach. The question is what will happen if there is another virus?

@stevenmartin8828 Dying with the virus and not from virus to two different things. I think the data is flawed. Excess deaths continued way into 2023 a long time after the epidemic. My personal theory is the excess births AKA the baby boom will lead to excess deaths 80 years later assuming that those people born during the excess birth period aren't immortal.

Although it's true that medical professionals and scientists would say to end deaths from traffic accidents everyone should stay in their homes all the time. The prime minister doesn't just take one factor into account, he has to do a multivariate analysis.

@jackspring7709 I agree the way it was reported it sounded as though lots of Tory MPs were going to number 10 downing Street and having parties. The truth is it wasn't Tory MPs it was civil servants so basically the opposite of Tories.
