  1. A narrow front strategy is exactly what the Germans wanted because the Germans were so good at combining forces needed in certain areas at certain times. They would have blunted any allied effort in one area only. Eisenhower was aware of German tactical strengths so the key was to keep the Germans stretched out and off balance.

  2. Eisenhower was a very smart leader. He approved Market Garden because he knew if it failed, Monty was done politically and stuffed into a corner but if it succeeded, Eisenhower could take credit for the success. It was a win-win for Eisenhower.
