The possiblity of failure and losing face should make China hesitate to take on such a risky course of action. That possiblity has protected Taiwan all these yrs.

@franktoh3041 You mean like Russia's red lines ? China is the prime example of a society driven by a self-defeating ideology. Shooting itself in the foot at every opportunity.

@franktoh3041 We are pushing china's red lines. Just admitting that Taiwan exists as a sperate country breaks china's red lines. Not to mention selling them weapons. We have the same defensive agreement with Taiwan as we do Ukraine. So China is watching what is happening to Russia. Russia also thought they had a invincible hand. China depends on exports and imports as much as Russia does. And China is on path to really screw itself even without war. China's house of cards is coming apart. You can run a country on private debt. Look at America's growing housing and debit system. But not when it's the majority of your income like China. It is just a giant ponsi scheme. China thinks you can build forever, it doesn't even have to work or be profitable. They have screwed with their water system so much that it no longer works. None of their projects have met their expectations. And several have made things worse. Their bullet trains are losing billions every yr. They built the system more as a status symbol than a functional system. The average Chinese can't even afford to ride it. And they didn't build the robust rail freight system they really needed. So big and shiney is better than useful. The Chinese have a saying... Not building it right the first time is long term job security. 😂😂

@franktoh3041 Just Ukraine existing as a separate country was a red line for Putin. Until 2014 Ukraine had no interest in alining with the west. Putin made it impossible not too. Hell, just applying for the EU was a red line. Russia is that crazy ex that can't accept that the relationship is over.
