In fact, India has exploited Russia's predicament, to squeeze a 35% discount on crude oil. As far the Indian people are concerned, most tell me that public opinion is evenly divided but those supporting Russia's actions are more vocal. Those against are muted by the guilt they feel over abandoning, a traditional ally. Nevertheless, they believe that Russia is doing the wrong thing.
