That's too broad of a brush. There are lots of good people somewhere. Look around your neighborhood, maybe in your family. You won't find them online because there's too much pretense. It's not "society's" fault that things have gone sideways, but forces in society that put money and appearances ahead of substance, truth, and kindness. Be who you are looking for :-).

@insertmyidentityhere You are making good points, and I was referring to what you describe by saying things have gone "sideways". However, I hope to be bucking the trend by seeing some positive instead of mostly negative. Best wishes to you and the OP.

Coconut oil contains saturated fat. :-( - Just FYI, in case you overlooked that.

Chill. If you didn't get this, do some thinking. If you're a habitual nay-sayer, same, and get some help.

@Smokeycam1 At 15:30 he says he switched to WFPB after the heart attack. He looked deeper and another specialist convinced him to go more carnivore. He was insulin resitant. Insulin resistance can be traced back to fat molecules blocking the cells that would absorb the carbs. Insulin cannot access these cells anymore, thus insulin resistance. This scenario is not taught in typical med schools, even though the mechanics have been known for decades. Harvard studies make this clear. Anyway, he was plant based only briefly, after his heart attack....

@GoobieAndDoobie Interesting. I was thinking you'd benefit from Buddhist wisdom. Mingyor Rinpoche suffered from anxiety as a child. His father, a Buddhist teacher himself, suggested that he make friends with his anxiety. He followed that advice and now passes it on in his own teaching. It is a simple concept but runs deep, akin to what you are aiming to do. I was revisiting his teachings last night :-) . Much love to you from Tiger Mtn. where I am surrounded daily by the lushest green of tall trees and dense shrubs. PS we have discovered MERLIN Bird ID several weeks ago. Do you use it? It is so much fun!

You'll never know the answer because some folks tolerate the impact of toxicity in food better than others. Depends on all factors of your lifestyle choices. If you eat organic veggies along with processed meat e.g., you will increase inflammation in your body and suffer the consequences. Inflammation is often at the crux of the matter.

To some degree, if you're a (human) sheep. And yet, at some point you came to be that sheep. And you can choose to stop that behavior once you realize it does not serve you well. Happens to some people, doesn't it? Pavlov set up the conditions for the dogs' behavior by making them hungry. If the dog is not hungry or doesn't like what is being offered (onion), they would choose to not eat it. Science experiments always work towards predictable outcomes. Life throws you curveballs and that's where it gets interesting.

@Smokeycam1 Interesting. I'll check this out.

"Slowly you find yourself creating a character".... Trouble is that you are being shaped by those who influence you beginning in childhood - parents, teachers, peers.... I guess that is where a lot of the conflicts muddy the waters regarding self-doubt and which one is my truth, my path to choose..... Just a thought.... (PS. Dr Bruce Lipton has a lot to say about that. )

You made it sound as if he suffered the heart attack WHILE on a WFPB diet. I assume, judging by the video title, that he switched from a SAD diet to WFPB. :-)

Please consider Lifestyle Medicine. We (patients) need your skills. It is a growing field.

Hello Dr Goobie, thank you for voicing your thoughts and teaching so many people on how to cope with the drawbacks of our new reality. As an older person, I would encourage you to investigate how people used to live healthier lives in the last century without all those abominations like fast food, processed food and social media. All that information is readily available, but you have a way of conveying basics that ring true and make a point. I agree with all you say, and have been aware of all of it for more than a decade. I do what I can to help myself stay healthy. I love nature and animals and am very lucky to live surrounded by trees and wild greenery. I have recently sown a native meadow to help native insects and birds survive. Pls teach people that there will be no life on this planet for us if there are no pollinators and the birds will die if they cannot feed their young. I myself didn''t even know that certain insect species depend on particular native plants to survive. The monarch butterfly is facing extinction because people have removed milkweed plants. People have also replaced native plants with lawns or imported plants that have no value for native wildlife. We need insects to grow our food. We all depend on this network (life cycle) to function. We are One. Greetings from Tiger Mtn :-) . 🙏

Did you drink enough water? I agree though, you need to balance your foods to be healthy! In general, food phobia ia not the answer, unless you have special allergies etc.

So you know him personally? (Rhetorical question. I know you don't. You would never dare to say this to someone you have met face to face.)

Kaiser also promotes plant based care - they have an official PDF that supports it. In reality, I have yet to find a plant-based doc near me (Seattle area) in their system.
