I'm so glad you found the perfect way to convey your message - by just being true to yourself. What you have to say is so important - and I agree with most of what you conveyed today. THANK YOU! ---- BTW, I went plant-based 9 years ago as well. Greetings from Tiger Mountain. 😊

@extra-turtle A good place for you to investigate these docs and others is a YT channel created by Chef AJ. When the pandemic began, everybody had lots of time. Every day she presented plant-based doctors who presented info and answered questions on any topic of their chosing. She only recently changed the focus of her channel, but all these presentations are archived on her channel "Chef AJ". Also, look at Dr. Barnard's channel out of Washington DC,; they present plant-based health topics several times a week, "Physicians Committee". Hope this helps you locate information to help you find what you are looking for. One thing that is very noticable -- all the docs that are featured on these channels are very happy to be able to actually help their patients get healthy and not just manage their symptoms. 🙂

If you use a Vitamix or Blendtec, you can use whole seeds, I have done this for years :-) . They get pulverized.

He already said that it is dangerous.

Are you by any chance with Kaiser Permanente?

It is common kowledge now that fish are contaminated with toxins - or fed a species inappropriate diet in fish farms. I have even heard a recommendation to feed less fish to cats! One recommendedation for humans by a plant based doc was to eat fish lower in the food chain, i.e. smaller fish, if you have to eat fish.....

@shane7241 You are very welcome :-) . I have been looking at plant based nutrition for the past 9 years. I would recommend that you look at whole food plant based channels for ideas. Vegan channels can be less health- conscious. Vegans avoid animal products, but often do not replace them with specifically healthy choices. It takes a while to figure this out. You might like a plant based channel called "Simnett Nutrition". He has good, healthy, straightforward suggestions and good cooking demos.

As represenative of the salties you are not leaving a good impression, sorry.

Type 2 diabetes is reversible. There are many plant-based docs on YT who can help. I was with Mastering Diabetes for a year and now have much better control of my Type 1 diabetes. Stinging pain in my feet is 95% gone, not sure what occasionally triggers the remaining 5%. Neuropathy result is similar.

Remember, they had no electricity. "Lights out" happened at sunset.....

Look at Lifestyle Medicine, it is a growing field and many disappointed doctors get back to what they hoped to be doing: healing people, working with the patient to remove the cause of disease instead of managing disease!. <3

@g_9443 You should have kept watching - Doobie learned from Eckhardt Tolle to respect Jesus - as any morally advanced, ethical person should. Peace 🙂

@GoobieAndDoobie I live 10 min from the hatchery (for 36 years) and I have never stopped there. It was tough to watch this spectacle and in fact I had to skip to the end. Been WFPB for 9 years now, vegetarian for 24 years before that....... BTW, we are putting in a meadow on our property and during research I found out that some insects depend on specific wildflowers to live. Wildflowers are not that easy to find here any more. Apparently, the monarch butterfly is 99% extinct in California because it cannot find milkweed plants. Please look into this and maybe talk about it. Also, last year I found out bad news about our beloved Western Red Cedars in our state - ironically called the tree of life......

Coconut oil sadly has saturated fat.... . Best wishes!

That's too broad of a brush. There are lots of good people somewhere. Look around your neighborhood, maybe in your family. You won't find them online because there's too much pretense. It's not "society's" fault that things have gone sideways, but forces in society that put money and appearances ahead of substance, truth, and kindness. Be who you are looking for :-).
1
@insertmyidentityhere You are making good points, and I was referring to what you describe by saying things have gone "sideways". However, I hope to be bucking the trend by seeing some positive instead of mostly negative. Best wishes to you and the OP.

Coconut oil contains saturated fat. :-( - Just FYI, in case you overlooked that.

Chill. If you didn't get this, do some thinking. If you're a habitual nay-sayer, same, and get some help.

@Smokeycam1 At 15:30 he says he switched to WFPB after the heart attack. He looked deeper and another specialist convinced him to go more carnivore. He was insulin resitant. Insulin resistance can be traced back to fat molecules blocking the cells that would absorb the carbs. Insulin cannot access these cells anymore, thus insulin resistance. This scenario is not taught in typical med schools, even though the mechanics have been known for decades. Harvard studies make this clear. Anyway, he was plant based only briefly, after his heart attack....

@GoobieAndDoobie Interesting. I was thinking you'd benefit from Buddhist wisdom. Mingyor Rinpoche suffered from anxiety as a child. His father, a Buddhist teacher himself, suggested that he make friends with his anxiety. He followed that advice and now passes it on in his own teaching. It is a simple concept but runs deep, akin to what you are aiming to do. I was revisiting his teachings last night :-) . Much love to you from Tiger Mtn. where I am surrounded daily by the lushest green of tall trees and dense shrubs. PS we have discovered MERLIN Bird ID several weeks ago. Do you use it? It is so much fun!

You'll never know the answer because some folks tolerate the impact of toxicity in food better than others. Depends on all factors of your lifestyle choices. If you eat organic veggies along with processed meat e.g., you will increase inflammation in your body and suffer the consequences. Inflammation is often at the crux of the matter.

To some degree, if you're a (human) sheep. And yet, at some point you came to be that sheep. And you can choose to stop that behavior once you realize it does not serve you well. Happens to some people, doesn't it? Pavlov set up the conditions for the dogs' behavior by making them hungry. If the dog is not hungry or doesn't like what is being offered (onion), they would choose to not eat it. Science experiments always work towards predictable outcomes. Life throws you curveballs and that's where it gets interesting.

@Smokeycam1 Interesting. I'll check this out.

"Slowly you find yourself creating a character".... Trouble is that you are being shaped by those who influence you beginning in childhood - parents, teachers, peers.... I guess that is where a lot of the conflicts muddy the waters regarding self-doubt and which one is my truth, my path to choose..... Just a thought.... (PS. Dr Bruce Lipton has a lot to say about that. )
1
You made it sound as if he suffered the heart attack WHILE on a WFPB diet. I assume, judging by the video title, that he switched from a SAD diet to WFPB. :-)

Please consider Lifestyle Medicine. We (patients) need your skills. It is a growing field.

Hello Dr Goobie, thank you for voicing your thoughts and teaching so many people on how to cope with the drawbacks of our new reality. As an older person, I would encourage you to investigate how people used to live healthier lives in the last century without all those abominations like fast food, processed food and social media. All that information is readily available, but you have a way of conveying basics that ring true and make a point. I agree with all you say, and have been aware of all of it for more than a decade. I do what I can to help myself stay healthy. I love nature and animals and am very lucky to live surrounded by trees and wild greenery. I have recently sown a native meadow to help native insects and birds survive. Pls teach people that there will be no life on this planet for us if there are no pollinators and the birds will die if they cannot feed their young. I myself didn''t even know that certain insect species depend on particular native plants to survive. The monarch butterfly is facing extinction because people have removed milkweed plants. People have also replaced native plants with lawns or imported plants that have no value for native wildlife. We need insects to grow our food. We all depend on this network (life cycle) to function. We are One. Greetings from Tiger Mtn :-) . 🙏

Did you drink enough water? I agree though, you need to balance your foods to be healthy! In general, food phobia ia not the answer, unless you have special allergies etc.
1
So you know him personally? (Rhetorical question. I know you don't. You would never dare to say this to someone you have met face to face.)

Kaiser also promotes plant based care - they have an official PDF that supports it. In reality, I have yet to find a plant-based doc near me (Seattle area) in their system.

Diane, I agree. Even though I have been aware of a lot of the destructive habits of modern civilization, I am constantly learning more, including ways to fix our situation. My latest insight: Birds rely on particular native larvae species to feed their young, and the insects producing those larvae need certain native plants to live on. Those native plants are increasingly ripped out due to land used for other things or because the native plants are not pretty enough. Those insects have kept us alive too, by pollinating our crops. I didn't know about the specific needs to keep this chain of life going. I am in the process of planting wild meadows on our property in recognition of this problem. We all can do something. (I also don't eat meat; I've done fine for the past 9 years on plant protein.)

So touching and so perfectly 'you'. 🙂 :,-) <3 🕊

Maybe I should hang onto our record player that works by turning a handle!! We lost power for a full week!! This time, instead of finding the old records, I went out and started weeding invasive plants along our driveway for hours on end :-) !
1
Looks like you both got lucky. On Tiger Mtn we had no power for a week and no internet for 10 days..... Was able to do a lot of yard work to keep warm :-) . We have a woodstove, running water and friendly neighbors with generators who recharged our large power battery for flashlights and phones. Internet came back yesterday :-) . Rediscovered our old transistor radio late in the game but our taste in music is not much represented nowadays....

The "7 generations" way of planning ahead is a very rational and all-encompassing way of thinking by the "leavers"!
1
@TheSpiralZero It may have been written down at that particular time (that is disputed as well) but the article I read said it was based on ancient wisdom etc, which rings true to me. You believe what suits your mindset :-) .... there is no proof....
1
I don't think that fear-mongering holds any answers. Already I am concerned about the lack of valid solutions. We don't need more fear.
1
..... as a reaction to what you consume for breakfast?
1
I was concerned as well, but figured they can ask the groomer at Doobie's next appointment.
