@adrianellis4497 Adrian he has not blamed anyone .You are guilty of making a false accusation.

@MartinParsons-tr6wi I think Keir Starmer and his wife were foolish to accept such lavish personal gifts but perhaps they did not appreciate the implications at the time .
1
@merseybeat1963 The dress in question was British designed and manufactured which seems to me rather important . Mrs Thatcher had a long relationship with a U K clothes manufacturer I seem to remember.
1
@MrAnon-q1o Rubbish .
1
@christinefrossard7983 The Arsenal tickets were given by the Club and I do not have a problem with that at all. I think this is a lot of fuss about very little and certainly not worthy of the time being spent talking about it. Both Keir and his wife actually looked very smart and that is a good result for the U K.

@adihotson8132 You don't pay tax on gifts unless they arise as a direct consequence of your job or your trade or profession. A Waiter or a Hairdresser pay Income Tax on tips and a tradesman who receives a bonus for speedy work or good quality should pay Income Tax on the full amount received .
1
@Headwind-1 If you expect nothing in return for your gift it is not a bribe. Keir Starmer is not a crook but he has been naieve.
1
@hagar6359 Why should he be in Lord Ali's pocket since a full disclosure has been made ?
1
@colinbrown5837 He is no worse and may be a lot better than what the Tory's have offered in recent years .Still early days and you have sufficient time to change your mind.
1
@Headwind-1 You are very cynical and perhaps you are completely wrong .Lord Ali seems to regard politics as a hobby and does not mind making contributions to Politicians he favours . I think Boris Johnsons financial relationships were more suspicious.
1
@richboyo8306 Acceptance of a gift is not a crime .
1
@matsuz100 Yes that is my understanding and perhaps this is something that needs to be reconsidered .
1
@adihotson8132 Gifts are not taxable .
1
Roger he was just explaining the truth and it was a rational explanation. There is nothing cowardly about facing facts .
1
@jimmycricket5366 People are not being wiped out and the British culture is not in danger.
1
@BlackStump172 You really ought to write a novel as your imagination clearly runs away with you .
1
@douglashyslop2209 His father did help and I hope the boys exam results were first class. I would have hated my home being surrounded by journalists and protesters every single day and I commend Keir for his sensitivity.
1
@JohnOgilvy-w9r Why should he be ostracised by anyone ? You are obviously a very nasty person but there are others who are open minded.
1
@douglashyslop2209 I am not an active Labour supporter and I have never been involved in Politics .If I thought my child's studying for public exams was going to be disrupted because of my job then I would try to find a solution. If a friend or acquaintance had an empty property in a convenient location and offered to let it to me for a few weeks I would not hesitate .Perhaps the problem is not Lord Ali or Keir Starmer but the perception that the political class is corrupt. Why can't a rich man be satisfied with a feel good factor ?
1
@MartinParsons-tr6wi You don't even know him.
1
@MartinParsons-tr6wi I do not believe he is using his son as you claim. Both Keir and his wife are very protective of their children and it seems sensible to me to try to give his son privacy while he is taking important examinations .
1
@jackjones9587 Staying in his own house was not possible in the run up to the Election as explained it was surrounded by reporters and protesters. It was Sunak who chose the timing of the Election you know but his children are at Boarding School while Keirs children are not.
1
@MartinParsons-tr6wi You have failed to say why you believe Keir is hypocritical. Perhaps he is just sensible ?
1
@MartinParsons-tr6wi You do not know what you are talking about .How on earth can you make accusations without any evidence ?
1
@MartinParsons-tr6wi I am willing to give Keir and his colleagues the benefit of the doubt and I do not think your preaching is going to influence me at all. I think Keir has been a little naieve, as has his wife, but compared to Tory sleaze this is just trifling .
1
@jackwatsonepic626 I think you are misguided because when the truth comes out you will find Tory corruption is far more ambitious than a few expensive suits and ladies clothes .Why not wait and see what is revealed by the enquiry into Covid ?
1
@G-ra-ha-m Keir Starmer may be a millionaire in terms of his London property but he is far from wealthy compared to the Labour Donor Lord Ali . A Barrister , a former Civil Servant and a Member of Parliament are not usually described as rich but the right wing Media have spotted an opportunity to exaggerate and they are really enjoying themselves at the moment .
1
@barbararocca5561 You do not get it lady .
1
Please note being a millionaire in 2024 is not very meaningful. Keir Starmer has a valuable house in London but he is not in a position to buy ultra expensive clothes for his wife. The right wing Media is having fun but is not very fair.
1
@barriewilliams4526 I think you have leapt to judgement and perhaps are rather hasty.
1
@nosocialmedia2854 I have never known a time when houses were cheap. When I bought my first property in the UK in the 1970's I was earning 1thousand pounds per annum and the house cost six thousand pounds.
1
@peterf46 I think you ought to acknowledge that the Conservatives were far worse than Labour .
1
@PD62155 The current understanding is that you can legally accept gifts as long as they are acknowledged and reported .
