@simonmuhamed1071 Of course I do. We are short of labour in this country and the Government is urging pensioners to return to work. Why not let some migrants work and pay their way rather than living in a hotel or hostel ?

@steptay If what you say is factually correct why is the Chancellor making it more attractive for retired people to return to the work force ? Perhaps you are looking at things from the wrong lense .Why can't workers have a living wage which enables them to live without tax credits .I do not think the politicians have deliberately encouraged migration but they certainly have not done anything to control the numbers though I note that a number of Europeans left as a consequence of Brexit .

Seeker it seems clear to me that it is the Tory ministers who think they run the B B C .Who believes that people like Braverman or Rees Mogg represent the ordinary viewer or listener ? The Tories were glad to have a National Broadcaster during the Covid lockdown but we are now back to the usual knockabout with the Government moaning about left wing bias and Labour suggesting the Corporation is running scared of threats from the right wingers. I think the U K gets good value from the BB C but it does worry me that a friend of Boris is currently the Chairman of this respected organisation .

@joelscadden I want to persuade people to start thinking what can be done to deal with the movement of people. Do the Tory government believe there are sufficient resources being devoted to dealing with applicants who use the formal route because if that is the claim why are a significant number of migrants risking their lives crossing the Channel ? Every death is on the conscience of Macron and his colleagues who are doing little or nothing to stop the boats before they can set sail.

Carol free speech needs to be defended in the face of the Tory hysteria which has been on display in recent days. The policy unveiled by Braverman will not work as the issue of Migrants cannot be solved by the UK and the E U alone. There is a role for the U N but as usual there is no coherent policy emerging from that quarter .
