  1.  neovarleydownes9109  Lord Ali is an enthusiastic supporter of the Labour Party . He probably persuaded Keir and his wife that it was necessary for them to look smart as they would be subject to much scrutiny over the build up to the General Election .I assume he suggested they take advice about suitable designers and offered to pay the bills .In the circumstances it would be difficult to turn down the generous offer .

  2. Square you are very naieve .There is nothing epic about the contributions made by Lord Ali and you should examine what Boris Johnson and his MP's received by way of donations in a typical year .

Seriously the provision of a few expensive suits and ladies clothes for Mrs Starmer is hardly worth the description epic. I can only suggest that your silly comment reminds me of a controversy over a raincoat which troubled Harold Wilson more than 40 years ago.

  7.  @Atgrulab  Obviously Lord Ali is a very well known Labour Party donor and it is entirely possible he is committed to the Party .As far as I know he expects nothing in return and that is understandable if Politics is his hobby . Security at Number 10 is not something I have ever considered but presumably the Prime Minister receives briefings from the Security Service when he takes office.

  8.  @colinredfern1951  Colin you do not really think Lord Ali went on shopping expeditions with Lady Starmer ? I think he arranged for her to meet an advisor who introduced her to designers who specialise in tailored clothing for a mature lady and of course he arranged to pay the bills .
