Mary that is the problem he can't afford the maintenance and probably struggles to heat a 30 room property .

You are completely right . Unfortunately Royal Lodge is not in a good state of repair and needs to have millions of pounds spent on it to compensate for the neglect .I gather Andrew does not have the money to carry out the work and that is why his elder brother is worried. I think it is sensible for Frogmoor Cotttage to be offered to him as an alternative but we will see how this issue is finally sorted out. I do not know what the King has in mind for Royal Lodge but it would be a suitable home for Catherine and William since Adelaide Cottage is rather small.

@indrianisri The lease was acquired by Andrew when he was a Working Royal and he is no longer undertaking those duties . King Charles is actually trying to help Andrew who is struggling with a financial burden. Frogmoor Cottage is a practical house for him to live in and affordable.

 @ladytamaya4737 I think you will find the Mayfair property was purchased for Sarah, Beatrice and Eugenie by the sons in law .I do not believe Andrew contributed.

 @ladytamaya4737 The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh live very close to Windsor and do not need another home within the Great Park.
