@MarjorieSherrington All important matters need to be decided by the House of Commons and the House of Lords .The Brexit fiasco has divided families and the country and if the people had understood what was involved they might not have felt confident that it was sensible to leave the E U.

@houldenc22 I think the young people will have little respect for people like Farage , Johnson and Gove who isolated the U K from our European neighbours by promoting Brexit .

@TooDarnSoulful The effects of Brexit were never properly explained and the people did not have the benefit of a clear understanding of what was involved . It was difficult to take a rational view in the absence of essential information and now people are coming to terms with what has been lost. I can't help but feel that the relationship between voters and politicians has been undermined by the aftermath to the vote which will have long term consequences for Democracy in the U K.

Exactly and what is worse is that the people of the U K were told lies by Johnson, Gove and Farage plus many other Brexiteers.

@MarjorieSherrington I think that when important decisions need to be taken it is important to be honest and calm. The Brexit debate was not conducted in a rational manner for example how many people addressed the question of Northern Ireland or Gibraltar when deciding how to vote ? What important decisions were not taken by the Government when the House of Commons was preoccupied by the endless squabbles about Brexit ?

@MarjorieSherrington I think with the current state of the World we need to work closely with our neighbours and other Democracies.

@MarjorieSherrington Yes that is where we diverge .I do not think the E U member states have a positive view of the U K and indeed think that there is an element of treachery . In these circumstances it is very difficult to obtain cooperation hence the behaviour of the French toward the migrants and people smugglers. I believe the anti E U campaign was years in the making and the British people were subjected to years of propaganda which was never properly addressed .

@MarjorieSherrington I do not disagree with you as the E U did not give any help to Cameron before the Referendum and played hard ball during the negotiations. However was it really necessary to decide at an early stage to aim for a hard Brexit when there were reasonable alternatives?

@normanlazarus1836 The E U is bureaucratic and perhaps overly complex but each State has a democratic government and I believe has a right of veto .

@normanlazarus1836 I see what you mean but the problem is the various states have to protect their own interests and it is really difficult for unanimity to be achieved. Politicians have to please their own electorate and be seen to be fighting their corner.

@normanlazarus1836 I agree it does appear change is difficult to achieve and is not going to get any easier .
