@SnarkyLady We all tend to live within the rules / norms of society but Trump does not .A person who rejects basic rules can paralyse organisations like the F B I because they have no previous experience and do not know how to deal with them .The only answer to the problem posed by Donald Trump is to apply the law rigorously and confront him in the Courts. Unfortunately this approach takes courage , determination , time and effort and might mean other business goes on the back burner . I think the current person in charge of the FB understands the war of words is only just starting but he is mentally prepared to deal with the dangerous criminal named Trump.I can only wish him well and urge him to be very careful as some of the supporters are out of control .

Fran I think Trump is incorrigible because he says and does things that others think are in bad taste or might be illegal. He really ought to be locked away for the good of the U S A and the whole World and I do hope I live to see that.

@williamcarter9066 Merrick Garland does not have personal power because he is an official appointed to run the F B I .He works within the law and supervises officers who collect the evidence required and makes politically sensitive decisions . Dealing with the strange conduct of Trump is nothing to do with personalities but about the legal framework established to protect the Republic .

@FromtheKing1 I appreciate he has got away with things all his life including evading the draft .The problem for the authorities is that to deal with someone like Trump you need a dedicated unit and when resources are limited the temptation is to ignore him .Trump has been allowed , by this failure , to become more and more confident and ambitious . What is deeply disappointing is how many American citizens have been persuaded to support Trump even though they must see how self serving he is .

@klinnc8910 The G O P gambled everything on Trump and have little or no choice but to continue to support him . Leave out his private legal battles and consider what he has to face now namely: (1) The strong possibility that he attempted to engineer a coup starting on the 6th January 2020. (2) That he effectively stole documents from the White House and when asked to return them to Federal authorities did not fully comply. I think you will agree that both of these charges are extremely serious and it as at this juncture a sensible person within the G O P ought to consider abandoning all ties to Trump and his family .

@GunsDontKillSSRIDoes Security costs money and Trump may not have have explained why he wanted more Police or Army on duty at the White House or Capitol .In those circumstances she really had no alternative but to turn down his request . What I do not understand is why Trump asked for the increase in security when it was his intention to encourage violence . Perhaps one day we will understand how his mind works but at the moment I ,for one , am just bewildered .

TJ firstly the building in question is not a house or family home but a Club for wealthy people .Secondly the F B I did not raid the premises but exercised the right to search the property using a Warrant issued by a Judge .You sound as if you have been briefed by Trump or his supporters to raise the temperature but unfortunately for you ,and him ,the facts do actually support the F B I .

Chris it is all down to Trump and his followers .If a former employee discloses a potential crime committed by Trump or a family member they are a traitor .When a political opponent is in a similar situation Trump praises a whistle-blower.

Jennifer we may never know what Trump intended but it is incredible that he had the impudence to steal so many documents . Better brains than mine are probably wondering what motivated him to behave like a Traitor .

Beyondfubar the FB I have found many sensitive documents at Trumps Florida property and now have to consider how to take the enquiry further.

@davidturczak7253 I am not as cynical as you. I think there are some good people who are involved in politics and / or public service but the news media does not make it easy to trust anyone . All we can do is watch carefully what is happening and then make a judgement on the basis of the evidence .The Congressional Hearings have been illuminating and the search warrant served on Trump has disclosed that he can't be trusted to obey the law when it comes to government documents. At this stage one does wonder why he is not under arrest.

@klinnc8910 I have been terrified of Trump for at least 5 years and I cannot see why any sensible human would find his pitch attractive .The G O P seems to have sold its soul to the devil in the person of Trump and it might take his conviction as a Traitor to make the party drop him .I think what the F B I has discovered may make some of the senior people think again but we will wait and see.
