vietnam, germany, china have accomplished that. north korea is largely agrarian anyway so it's potentially complementary. a unified korea however would result in lesser american presence in the region.

@flow_987 you dont know how geopolitics work. sovereignty is dead which automatically makes democracy a farce. governments dont carry the will of their voters anymore and pit them against each other.

@rachelcookie321 read all the above post before commenting. hongkong was separated for a century and xinjiang assimilated in less than 30 years. the right to work elsewhere could be controlled by gradually increasing quotas according to demand. when sanctions are lifted, natural resources can be developed and sold at a much higher market prices. know-how, which is the most expensive, could be given for free and materials to develop industries can be procured more cheaply again without sanctions.
