that's the right spirit. There's no reason to cry about it, we just have to get through it. And hopefully build back better. Greetings from denmark :)

@Mike-gi2oi and yet, germany still exists today. The sovjet union however does not...😉

For some reason, biogas gets very little attention in germany. Here in denmark, we have replaced about 25% of our gas consumption with biogas. I see no reason why germany couldn't do the same. Biogas facilities are usually built in rural areas, and are often co-owned by local farmers. They can be built in less than a year.

@rodtukker1904 making children wear a sweater inside, instead of just a t-shirt all year round, is not exactly child abuse. You're reaching for straws there buddy 😄

@rodtukker1904 You're still reaching for those straws. Turning down the thermostat will reduce our gas consumption by 15-18%. There will be a shortage of gas this year, so it is not really a choice, it is something we need to do.

@Mike-gi2oi you are making a lot of assumptions there. I'm not sure what "period of scarcity" you are talking about. IMF expects germany's gdp to decrease by 1.5% in 2022 and 2,5% in 2023 if russia turns of the gas now. That's bad, but it is not exactly an economic crash. BTW, russia's own central bank predicts a 6% decrease in gdp this year. Combine that with a very expensive war that could go on for years. At some point, russia wil run out of old equipment and ammo from the soviet era, and they will have to produce a lot more. That will cost money, and that means raising taxes or moving funds from somewhere else. Support for the war may be high now, but that might not last. You should be more worried about russia's future stability.

@rodtukker1904 there is not enough time to fix these problems before this winter. We will have to turn down the thermostat a few degrees, and some industry may have to shut down a few months. But we can get through that, especially if we know things will get better next year. IMO, that's the message european leaders and media should focus on.

@rodtukker1904 i do have 2 kids, and our thermostat will go down from 22 to 19 degrees this winter. That's the temperature i prefer myself anyway. Putting on a sweater inside never hurt anyone :)

@Mike-gi2oi for now? Are you expecting germany to not exist in the near future?

@Mike-gi2oi Your'e right, we'll see what happens. I hope you are wrong :) Thank you for a civilized debate, I appreciate it.

@Alex-pj8nz that's because denmark is a very small country. However, denmarks export of goods per capita is actually higher than germany's.
