@nicolasbuzzbuzz1079 In thje 1970's was when I got my first Mortgage it was 15%, just do Please explain how I could pay faster with that kind of level of mortgage repayment. My next house the mortgage interest was higher at 17% These interest rates were a hinderance NOT a way of paying mortgages faster. Jaques Delors didn't stop inflation, the Bank of England, and the FED did. Delors was Never the Head of European finace that would have been the British/German chancellors. Low inflation means low interest rates, and way faster means of paying your mortgage debts. Personally I finished paying mine 15 years ago, and that was after just 12 years of being in a new build home!! My first home could NOT be afforded today by someone of my rank now in the Royal Navy today as a starter home, the cost is exhorbitant.

@nicolasbuzzbuzz1079 When was it 10 to 15 years to buy a house here in the UK? My first mortgage was over 40 years ago, and the mortgage length was 25 years exactly the same as today!
