Comments by "Dennis" (@Dennis-nc3vw) on "Iraq invasion: the defining images" video.
77% of Iraqis said the invasion was "worth it" as late as January 2006 (World Public Opinion poll). Then the sectarian civil war kicked in, and they mass murdered each other and blamed Americans.

That's because America is the only country on Earth that can be blamed for the crimes of its mortal enemies. 3 million Vietnamese die in a war between North and South Vietnam? America's fault. 95% of Iraqi civilians are killed by the terrorists the US is trying to kill and capture? America's fault. Etc. etc.

You cowards whipped up that dollar hegemony conspiracy theory after we proved your "Iraq War is for oil" one made no sense. Trying to argue with you weasels is like playing whack-a-mole.
6
So you mean the majority of the Iraqi people, up until 2007? Because a Gallup Poll in April 2004, a World Public Opinion poll in January 2006, and another World Public Opinion poll in September 2006 all showed the Iraqis overwhelmingly believed the invasion was "worth it."

komigennufan From 2007 onwards, you are right. Prior to that you are wrong.

The US did the freeing, the Iraqis mostly killed themselves. Iraq Body Count found that of about 120,000 civilian deaths in Iraq on record, only about 14,000 were caused by the coalition. That means 89% of Iraqi civilians were killed by their fellow muslims.

We didn't butcher the nation, the "freedom fighters" you were rooting for butchered the nation. 90% of civilian deaths in Iraq did not come from coalition forces, but rather the people coalition forces were out to kill and capture. IraqBodyCount found that of the 112,667–123,284 civilian deaths from violence, only 13,807 civilians in the Iraq War killed by coalition forcing. I'm almost certain that's an underestimate of the disparity too. Here's icasaulties[dot]org in May 2005 back when they were tracking Iraqi fatalities. Who's doing the killing? https://imgur.com/HP67mvk

The US didn't destroy your country, you destroyed your own country. Polls show the vast majority of Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" as late as September 2006 (Gallup, World Public Opinion). Then you mass murdered each other and blamed Americans.

We gave you what you wanted. A 2004 Gallup poll showed Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" by a margin of 2 to 1. Then you mass murdered each other and blamed Americans.

A 2004 Gallup poll showed Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1. You are literally calling him a war criminal for not believing he knew better than the Iraqis what was best for Iraq. If Arabs don't know what's best for them, and their safety is more important than their freedom, why don't we bring back colonialism?

The US sowed freedom in Iraq. The Iraqis themselves sowed destruction. That's why most Iraqis said the invasion was "worth it" until around 2007 was sectarian violence hit its apex and thousands died every month due to Shi'ite/Sunni infighting. Iraq Body Count found only about 10% of civilians deaths in Iraq were caused by coalition forces.

That's because the US is the only country that gets blamed for the crimes of its mortal enemies. 90% of Iraqi civilians were killed by the terrorists the US was trying to kill and capture, and they laughed their asses off when you blamed the US for their atrocities. https://imgur.com/RNsxfYr

Objectively we were. We could have saved a lot of trouble by simply putting a sycophantic, US-backed strongman in power, but instead we let the Iraqis elect their own government, even if it meant Sadrists serving in parliament.

The Iraqis full supported us inserting ourselves into their affairs, until they decided to mass murder each other and blame us. A 2004 poll by Gallup showed Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1.
