  1. People need to stop bastardizing the term pedophilia. This is statutory rape. True pedophilia is molesting a pre-pubescent child and it is an issue well beyond simply "children are too dumb to consent." If it were simply an issue of children's ability to consent, fondling a prepubescent child would, at best, be as bad as fondling an adult with no sexual interest in you. But true pedophilia has much more far reaching consequences. It can ruin someone's life, as many victims become pedophiles themselves, people with a strong and exclusive attraction to pre-pubescent children. Milo was clearly pubescent in this story, so while I think it was wrong to take advantage of them, it's not nearly as damaging as true pedophilia. Today we have this unbelievably disgusting that society's fatwa is just as arbitrary as the drinking age, but its not. Age of consent is as arbitrary as the drinking age. But pedophilia is not simply sexual activity with someone below the age of consent.

  4. He is objectively correct. Statutory rape and pedophilia are both crimes but they are completely different things. Milo's encounter falls into the category of statutory rape. Statutory rape is having sex with someone who society has arbitrarily decided is not smart enough to deal with the risks or emotions associated with sex. Pedophilia is tricking a prepubescent children into an unnatural act which of course will leave them feeling raped. While both can be wrong, no one is genuinely deluded enough to think these are equivalent acts.

Yes, he was minor, but I can't bring myself to believe pedophilia, supposedly the worst crime you can commit short of murder, is something as arbitrary as the drinking age. A horse is far stupider than a child but you don't say a horse is a victim when its put to stud.

  17. My friend told me about a time when he was in fourth grade. He snuck a pack of beers out of his house and got drunk with his brother in a ditch. He had a great time. I don't think he was endorsing lowering the drinking age to 10 just by telling the story, it just is what it is. Milo doesn't want to name names because he has no solid evidence against these people and all it would do would start a fight.

The idea of 18 has an adult is completely arbitrary, unscientific, and existed in no society on Earth until about 100 years ago. You dawned the "Toga of Manhood" at 14 in Ancient Rome. Traditional Jewish culture considers you a man at 13, hence Bar Mitzvahs. Quincenera's mark the transition to womanhood at 15. "Statutory rape" (as its defined today) was far more common in the 1950s than the 1970s, but all we ever hear about is how these couples lived happily ever after. The 1970s is when we said "25 year old men shouldn't marry teenagers because that's creepy, but teenagers should screw like rabbits because being a virgin is for losers." THAT started what we recognized immediately as a public health crisis.

Back when I was young I thought like you, but now I realize adulthood proceeds maturity, not the other way around. Maturity isn't just something that sprouts up like body hair. Teenagers are more miserable than any time in history because they are being treated like children more than any time in history. Most people just don't understand the Hedonist Paradox. But as someone who grew up a pampered rich kid and didn't get his first job until 23, I understand it perfectly.

  24. The people who are most Draconian about protecting teenage minors are some of the biggest defenders of sexualizing prepubescent children. The blog Jezebel has 5 seperate articles calling men who went after 16/17 year old girls "creeps" but then defended "Sexy Summer Camp", which is something so grotesque I would even write about it hear for fear of the algorithms censoring me.

How sick and twisted is our society that we think puberty should have no relevance to the question of when you should be having sex? The taboo on sex with preteens is ancient. The taboo on sex from 14 onwards is just a recent cultural construct like the drinking age. They're not the same. I'm so sick of this deluded, unnatural world.

  27. Girls as young as 13 sneak into the Russian modeling industry so Joe is obviously a lying coward. There was no society on Earth that even considered 15 a child prior to about 100 years ago. No one's biology is calibrated with 20th century morality in mind, and if it was then he wouldn't have found 15 year old girls attractive when he himself was 15 because that would be wrong on two levels.

I'm not defending fondling anyone against their will, or blowing 8th graders, but I can't bring myself to believe pedophilia, if its really as horrible as society portrays it, is just something as arbitrary as the drinking age.
