  1. That's not true, it's just when there's no mayhem, there's no news. Prior to Iraq, every invasion had been a resounding success in nation and building that was well received by the people. Germany, Japan, Italy, Panama, Grenada. Grenada even a has a holiday commemorating the US invasion of their country. Even regime change in Afghanistan had looked slick and clean at this time.

An April 2004 Gallup poll showed Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" for toppling Saddam by a margin of 2 to 1. And Gallup is the same company that reported 90+% of Crimeans felt Russia's 2014 Crimea referendum was fair so don't you dare accuse them of having a pro-American bias. The problem is that in 2006 sectarian violence kicked into high gear, they mass murdered and blamed Americans and then pretended they never wanted to be liberated.

  10. About 88% of civilian casualties in Iraq were at the hands of "insurgents, militia, and terrorists" according to John Sloboda of Iraq Body Count. Compare that to the Syrian Civil War where 91% of civilian casualties are at the hands of government forces. That should give you an idea of just how gentle America was in dealing with the insurgency in Iraq.

Crying that someone is forcing their lifestyle on you by giving you democracy is like crying someone is forcing their diet on you by giving a choice of what to have for lunch. When the war began, Iraqis believed overthrowing Saddam was worth by a margin of 2 to 1 (src: Gallup April 2004 poll), and only 17% approved of attacks on coalition forces (src: Gallup April 2004 poll), and most Iraqis wanted the US to stay until elections were established (src: Global Policy June 2004 survey). It wasn't until 2006, when sectarian violence started kicking into high gear that Iraqis changed their tune. They mass murdered each other, blamed Americans, and pretended they never wanted to be liberated. Of course, blaming America could only get them so far, and after two years of terrible violence they finally admitted it was the likes of Al Qaeda in Iraq killing them, not Americans, and half of the insurgents switched sides in an event called the Anbar Awakening, which, in addition to Shi'ite insurgent warlord's cease fire, FINALLY brought peace to Iraq and caused Iraqi deaths to fall by 80%.
