@bbukutan5375 It's the other around in Japanese society, because we generally follow paternal lineage. Our surnames, family registry, religious sects, family tombs, and land...are inherited from the father's side. In contrast, children of foreign fathers weren't issued Japanese citizenship until 1985 because they weren't perceived to be Japanese, while Japanese Descendants with paternal lineage living abroad were able to inherit Japanese citizenship.
