What's funny? Guam is only around 3-4 hours away and there is a direct flight from Japan. It's not high-end or anything but still a nice vacation destiny. The short flight helps when you have small kids.

@southcoastinventors6583 They are very racist, too say the least.

It's not a political statement. It's said in the same manner as HK, Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, and Bali. We know that HK is China, Guam/Saipan/Hawaii is US territory, and Bali is Indonesia. But it's also true that we differentiate these places. Bali's unique culture and people is the reason why Bali has always been popular.

We mostly type instead of write with our hands. We can read and select the right Kanji, which is why we forget how to write. This concept may be difficult to understand if you don't type in Japanese on a daily basis.

@reit.2889 From my own experience, most Japanese really enjoy living and vacationing in Singapore. It's clean, safe, orderly, yet diverse. Singaporeans are trustworthy and honorable, and infrastructure is safe and reliable. I like the food choices because it's so delicious and diverse. The education is better than Japan too. Sadly, it's become expensive to live in Singapore. The following is a 2018 statistic published by Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It's the top 10 destination that Japanese citizens have visited (pre-Pandemic). (1) USA 3.49mn (of which Hawaii is 1.49mn, and Guam is 0.56mn) (2) South Korea: 2.95mn (3) China: 2.69mn (4) Taiwan: 1.97mn (5) Thailand: 1.66mn (6) Hong Kong: 0.85mn (7) Singapore: 0.83mn (8) Vietnam: 0.63mn (9) Philippines: 0.63mn (10) Germany: 0.61mn

Please don't be offended. Malaysia and Singapore are one of the most favorite locations for Japanese who wish to live abroad. Other favorites are Thailand, Philippines, and NZ.

@dyn.srtran Where did you learn history? Japanese emigration to Hawaii started from late 19th century and continued throughout 20th century. "Nissei" that served in the US military during WWII is a Japanese word meaning 2nd generation.
