Comments by "Yo2" (@yo2trader539) on "What's it like being Half Indian in Japan? 🇯🇵🇮🇳" video.
Actually, "half" is not the reason. The Gold medalist MUROFUSHI and Head of Japan's Sport's Agency was half-Romanian. The famous Yokozuna TAIHO was half-Ukrainian from Karafuto/Sakhalin. Politicians like ONODA Kimi in the Upper House, or the current Governor of Okinawa...there are many hafu-people in Japanese society. Naomi Osaka doesn't speak Japanese, so she will never be identified as part of Japanese society regardless of her citizenship. The real issue Japan had with this lady is that she doesn't fit the typical Japanese beauty standards. It's not like girls in Japan wanna grow up to be like her. Thus, it begs the question, is she really the right person to represent Japan in a beauty contest, when most people in Japan don't find her to be representative of Japanese beauty.

People who know Japanese language, culture, and norms will never be treated as a stranger in Japan. There are many people who are half and are successful too. From politicians, to athletes, to actors/actresses to Sumo wrestlers. TAIHO was half-Ukrainian be was the most loved YOKOZUNA so far. Right now, everybody knows TAKAHASHI Ran and the MIYABE sisters from Volleyball. They'll never be treated as strangers in Japan...they actually represent Japan.

It's not because she's mixed. It's because she's not culturally Japanese. It will still happen even if both of your parents are Japanese.

I have never heard that expression in a romantic setting. May be 1,000 years ago...

She didn't know how to speak or behave like a Japanese...so I can imagine how kids would've treat her. She comes off too American, which is too aggressive and entitled in her behavior and mannerism. As whether she'd be considered beautiful in Japan, that's beyond my pay grade.

She didn't receive Japanese education, which is the main struggle for her to be accepted in Japan.

That's rather difficult to understand. A Japanese person will never call Japan "there." I think your identity is very clear.
