  2. Each year we have JET teachers from nearly 50 countries, from Sweden to Ukraine to Brazil. (The bulk of them are from Canada, US, Australia, NZ, UK, and the Philippines.) But you do NOT need to be a native speaker or from an English-speaking country to be an Assistant language Teacher. In the JET program we also have CIR (those who have high-degree of Japanese fluency) from Russia to the Vietnam working in local municipal governments.
