  3. Unless you're interesting in your own country, I doubt you would be interesting in a foreign country. You become friends based on compability of personality and not nationality.

  4. Her Japanese fluency is near-native. What she said was accurate, because language makes little sense if you cannot understand the reference points specific to a certain culture. She understands that language is culture itself. And English is a simplified Germanic language with Latin/French words, so learning English is an easy process for a native German speaker.

  5. My language teacher used to say that If you wish to write better, read in the language. And If you wish to speaker better, listen to the language (a lot). From having struggled with learning English, the Austrian girl's method makes sense, which was to listen to Japanese music, tv, YouTube, comedy, anime. etc. I think it would be faster to have basic fluency before you arrive, so you can perfect your Japanese in Japan.
