Ironically no, they weren't. They came there in the 80's because american pet owners released them into the wild. They were originally in the pacific ocean.

It's not natural. We put them there, so we should take them out as well. Fix our own mistakes.

Irresponsible pet owners released lionfish into the atlantic, they were never naturally there and have no natural predators and because of those pet owner actions they're destroying native wildlife. Even if we killed all of those off it wouldn't be endangered because they would still exist where they live natively.

We humans introduced this animal to the area because pet owners released them into the wild, they originally live in the pacific and are destroying nature. Would you rather we kill one species off or let every species die off?
