  1. Some statistics on how widespread this problem is would be useful. China has enough empty apartments to house 47 million people. This was built over 20 years? One story said 300 projects were stalled. If each project has 300 apartments (typical high rise) that's 100,000 apartments stalled. But should that be compared to 47 million already built? The economic model of real estate development in China was not long term sustainable. But the govt let the bubble inflate for too long, only reigning it in ~2 years ago. A new sustainable model is needed restart economic growth. But with Russia now concentrating on selling energy to Asia and Africa the energy situation is not a threat.But restructiong the economy will not be easy.
