  3. I passed as a Jew in NYC for 12 years at my second husband's request.  I heard the funniest, racist, bigoted stuff!  Humans are inherently like that, I've found.  Humans of every stripe.  It's all over.

Chinese pork buns can be amazing, I found decades ago in NYC.  I enjoyed talking to the older woman in there doing the cooking in that hole in the wall when it was slow.  Her English was very bad but she happily showed me what she made for her children and family, such as cakes and things.  All in a big wok.  I've had some Chinese-American friends and coworkers and some clients, too, and it was interesting to hear what they valued and how they thought.  I enjoyed ALL my Chinese university students here in France where I've lectured.  Outstanding.
