I actually disagree that westernized Japanese are better to get along with. I saw westernized Japanese who were the most close minded people, but also those who were really open minded. And the same with those who aren't westernized. I think it depends like in every culture on the personality. I don't get along with my western friends so to me talking with my Japanese friends, even when they can't speak english is very refreshing. They are willing to learn about my culture and behaviour and I do the same from them. So I think it really depends on the person and their personality. But then again, I enjoy being around people who complement me, rather than those who are like me. I mean, the way my Japanese best friend who always listens and tries to translate what I say in english when I have a mental breakdown and even when he struggles a lot in english, he makes me write my problems and makes sure he understands me and comforts me. I have never seen anyone going that far for me, ever. It means the world to me. It gives me a drive to learn more Japanese faster so I can express myself properly without causing troubles to him.
