@Ah01 In 2014, there were a lot of discussions about that issue, one was by a 2-part panel of highly respected Historians. Set in the Albert hall I think. At the end of this televised programme, the large audience were asked to vote on the issue, as to which panels opinion, they agreed with, Britain for WW1, or Against. The former won by a mile. The main arguement FOR. was, that Germany would most likely win the War against France and Russia. Resulting in the balance of trade ( which is all that Britain cared about) would have been under serious threat, The Kaiser's GROWING Navy, would have been within vision , just accross the channel, in most of France's main Ports, The Kaiser's beligerant attitude to acquiring his own Empire, THe Naval race with Britain was still in force. In short--the makings of a WAR would be far greater, than in1914; which Britain, without a Continental sized Army, would probably lose. That was THEIR conclusion; which I agree with. Germany was a very successful and wealthy country, yet the Kaiser risked it all because of greed for Empire building to at least, equal Britains.
